Billy Lynn – un giorno da eroe, il nuovo film di Ang Lee, che torna dopo il bellissimo “Vita Di Pi” con un film intimo e di critica. Film molto bello, che non è andato per niente bene al botteghino, ma che si è distinto per l’uso di una tecnica cinematografica mai usata in precedenza, ovvero l’uso dei 120 fraps al secondo. Di che cosa parla questo film, la trama è molto semplice, Billy Lynn, interpretato da un bravo Joe Alwyn (per la prima volta sullo schermo) è un ragazzo del Texas, che è partito per la guerra perchè forse ha fatto una promessa, o perchè forse ha fatto qualcosa nella sua cittadina del Texas. Billy è stressato, scocciato e confuso psicologicamente, perchè forse un episodio avvenuto in Iraq lo ha sconvolto, lo ha traumatizzato, non si capisce. Ma in ogni caso Billy non parla molto, non riesce quindi a comunicare agli altri questo suo malessere, non verbalizza. Nel corso del tour in giro per l’America, che vede coinvolti Billy e il suo gruppo di “fratelli” soldati chiamati Bravo, Billy verrà contattato da sua sorella, interpretata da una non troppo brava Kristen Stewart. Lei vorrebbe che Billy tornasse a casa, e che si facesse seguire probabilmente da uno psicologo o da qualcuno in grado di aiutarlo. Insomma vorrebbe che Billy non andasse più in guerra, cosa che invece dovrebbe fare dopo il tour in giro per l’America. Tratto da un libro molto noto scritto da Ben Fountain, questo film racconta il ritorno a casa di un soldato, anche se per un breve periodo, che si è contraddistinto grazie ad un gesto estremamente coraggioso nei confronti di un superiore durante uno scontro armato in Iraq, gesto che è stato filmato e messo in rete, ciò ha causato una confusione generale, trasformando Billy in un vero e proprio eroe. Seguiamo quindi il Tour che farà Billy insieme ai suoi compagni. Bello questo film, in cui è chiara una componente di critica all’utilizzo propagandistico della figura del soldato. Il film di Lee ci porta nella testa, nei pensieri, e nelle immagini che Billy vede e che affianca alla realtà, ma ci mostra anche questo show nel quale il gruppo Bravo deve essere coinvolto. Un film che parla del destino, della fratellanza e della famiglia, c’è una bellissima sequenza in cui vediamo il superiore di Billy interpretato da Vin Diesel che farà a Billy un discorso molto interessante sui figli e sul destino. Film stranissimo ma bello in ogni caso, ma che non verrà ricordato ricordato molto purtroppo, ciò per via dell’errore commesso da Ang Lee con l’uso dei 120 fraps. Un errore causato dal pensare di dare al film un impatto, un decoro ed una spettacolarità che il film non ha. Vedremo anche trattati molto beni temi decisamente importanti, ma vedremo anche due personaggi, interpretati da due noti attori comici che ci mostreranno il lato cinico e poco corretto di alcuni importanti americani. Un film acido, di rottura ma anche estremamente intimo, con un grandissimo Steve Martin nei panni di un cinico e non così corretto personaggio dello sport e dello spettacolo, ed un grandissimo Garrett Hedlund.
